Malala was born July 12, 1997. Malala lived with her parents and her two younger brothers. Her last name, Yousafzai, is that of a large Pashtun tribal confederation that is predominant in Pakistan's Swat Valley, where she grew up. She was educated in a large part by her father who was a poet and a school owner and educational activist himself.

"How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education." Malala began blogging for BBC about Taliban denying her an education. That is when Malala really became Malala. Then she began giving speeches in Pakistan.
Taliban Issued Death Threat For Young Innocent Malala.
"We will attack her whenever we get the chance!" At age 14 Malala and her family learned of the death threat against her from the Taliban!! On October 9th, 2012, Malala was SHOT! She was on her way home from school. A man boarded the bus and demanded to know who was Malala. The gunmen fired at her. Two other girls were also injured in the attack. Malala was left in critical condition, she was flown to a military hospital in Peshawar.

Malala was transferred to England and went through multiple surguries. The surgeries were to repair nerve damage to the left side of the face. When the surgeries had been finished and she could return home. She then attended school in England.

She gave a speech in the United Nations on her 16th birthday and she has also written a autobiography "I Am Malala: The Girl Who stood Up For Education and Was Shot By The Taliban." Malala's hard work has paid of. Just recently, she won a Nobel Peace Prize. Malala is described as " a brave and gentle advocate of peace who through the simple act of going to school became a global teacher!
